One of the hardest adjustments for me to make when I moved from the United States to Brazil was the difference in seasons.
In the United States, December is Winter, so Christmas is cold and Santa Claus makes sense. In Brazil, December is Summer, so New Years is a beach holiday. Growing up, I always wore lots of warm clothes during the holidays and drank nice, warm drinks. Now, I wear a swim suit and drink cold beers!
In the United States, July is the middle of summer. It always makes me think of cutting the grass, school breaks and lots of video games. In Brazil, July is normally pretty cold, so I think of tasty soups, late-night reading, and cuddling up on the couch.
